Grade one students have been learning about their environment and the animals that inhabit it. Students will be visiting the Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation and learn about winter in Calgary and what animals and plants do in the winter.  

When:               Tuesday, January 20, 2026 (Mrs. Snashall's class)
                          Wednesday, January 21, 2026 (Ms. Gloge & Mrs. Parker's class)

Time:                 9:00am – 2:30pm (Students will attend regular school hours 8:41am – 3:13pm)

Where:              Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation

Cost:                   $13.50 (please pay online through your Power School account or in person with Debit or Credit ) No Cash will be accepted. This will cover the cost of the bus and the program

Please sign and return the Acknowledgement of Risk form that is being sent home.  

The program is conducted outdoors in the foothills just outside Calgary.  The weather can sometimes be slightly cooler than in the city.  Please be prepared for and ensure your child is dressed for the weather (snow gear, hats, mitts, boots, etc.). Students need durable footwear suitable for the weather conditions.  

The itinerary is as follows:

Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area – Field Trip

9:00 – Bus pick up at school
9:30 – Arrive at Cross Conservation Area
9:30 – Rules and Snack
9:45 – 11:30 – Morning Program
11:30 – 12:15 – Lunch
12:15 – 1:45 – Afternoon Program
1:50 – Board bus
2:30 – Arrival back at school

Please have your child bring 2 snacks and a lunch.  There are washrooms and drinkable water on site, however all garbage must be brought home to be disposed of at home.

Volunteers will be organized through the room parents.  Please let your room parent know if you are available to volunteer.
