Students, Visitors & Volunteers Sign-In/Out
There are four binders at the front of the office:
Student Sign-Out
If you need to take your child out of school during school hours or out of the lunch program, a parent, guardian or other adult with official authorization will need to indicate that they are doing so using this binder.
Volunteer Sign-In
Registered and police screened volunteers must sign in and indicate where they will be volunteering.
Parent Sign-In
If you are visiting the school for purposes other than volunteering you must sign in using this binder.
Lunchroom Sign-In (Drop-in Only)
If you child is using the lunchroom on a drop-in basis please sign them in using this binder. In an emergency situation, you may register your child by calling the lunchroom phone line: 403-777-6400 ext. 2.
Student Entrances
Your child is expected to use their designated entrance to avoid congestion in our hallways and to allow the front entrance to be utilized by visitors, parents, and those students who arrive after their entrance is locked.
Irregular Dismissal of Students
When picking up students for appointments during regular school hours, parents are expected to come directly to the school office upon entry into the school. Office staff will then call the classroom.
Students will be dismissed from their classrooms and will meet with their parents at the office. Parents then sign their child (ren) out in the office. In the event someone other than the parent is picking up students, the school must be notified in advance.
Student Custody Issues
Please inform the school of any custodial issues. We require a copy of all legal documents for your child's file.
Sending Children Home
Children will not be sent home during school hours, for any reason, unless a parent has been contacted and permission given to an adult at the school.
Students will phone home after school if they are being detained for more than 5 minutes.
Lockdowns
All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.
Evacuation Procedures
In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.
Video Surveillance Technology
The Calgary Board of Education may install and use video surveillance technology at select schools to support maintaining a safe and secure environment and to help control vandalism and criminal activity on school property.
Personal information gathered by video surveillance is collected under the authority of the Education Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) section 33(b). The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.
This technology is considered a complement to, and not a replacement for, CBE's strategies in supporting a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful learning and work environment for students and staff.
Approval, installation and use of video surveillance technology will comply with Administrative Regulation 1066.
For questions or concerns, please contact the school principal.
