We are excited about our upcoming trip to the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller to participate in the Edutour Program. This two-day program will address and supplement curricular objectives in our Science program and it is an opportunity for students to explore their relationships and interactions with each other as part of a larger community. Students will be involved in a variety of learning activities supported and supervised by program staff from the Royal Tyrrell Museum.

DATES: Depart Tuesday, March 31 – Return Wednesday, April 1, 2026

TIMES: Bus will depart Calgary at 9:15 am (March 31) and then will depart Drumheller at 10:15 am (April 1), returning to the school by approximately 12:15 pm

Cost: The cost per student is $129.00 including GST. This fee includes accommodation, meals, snacks, and all activities associated with the Edutour Program.

Behaviour/ Sick: The safety of your child is the most important matter we consider when planning a field trip. Behaviour expectations and emergency procedures will be reviewed with all students prior to departure. Our school’s Code of Conduct is in effect for the duration of the off-site activity. Please be advised that if your child is sick or does not adhere to behaviour expectations, you will be required to pick up your child at the Royal Tyrrell Museum, at your own expense. Should we need to contact all parents in case of a delay or emergency, we will activate our Emergency Fanout system through PowerSchool email. Should weather or road conditions or any other unexpected situation arise that would prevent our group from making the return trip as planned and require us to stay overnight, parents would have to reimburse the school for all associated costs.

Transportation: We will be traveling by charter bus provided by First Student Inc., an approved CBE carrier.

Program: Please refer to the attached Edutour Program Schedule for a detailed itinerary and description of activities. This program includes both indoor and outdoor activities, including a hike in the Badlands (weather permitting). All students need to bring appropriate footwear and clothing in order to participate fully in the program. In addition, students will have the opportunity to go swimming at the Drumheller Aquaplex, supervised by certified lifeguards.

Parent Meeting: As this is an overnight trip, and in order to have informed consent for your child to attend this program, one parent is required to attend a mandatory parent information meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at 6:00 pm. At this meeting, we will share information related to the program, review the required paperwork and answer questions that you might have such as drop off and pick up details.

While some degree of risk is always associated in all school off-site activities, we have outlined specific areas of concern on the Consent and Acknowledgement of Risk form.

To prepare your student for these risks we ask that you ensure to:

§ Pack clothing suitable for the weather (layers, snowpants, hat/toque, mittens, and sunscreen)

§ Wear appropriate footwear for walking

§ Label all gear and clothing with your child’s name

§ Do not pack items of value (jewellery, electronics, money)

§ Give all medication to a teacher following requirements outlined in the parent meeting

§ Review student behaviour code of conduct

§ Fill out all supporting documents accurately and completely

During our overnight at the museum, no cell phones are permitted. The CBE nor the school will be responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged electronic devices and other personal belongings.

Please complete the Acknowledgement of Risk form to give your consent for your child to participate in this off-site activity. We ask that you complete and return the Acknowledgement of Risk, Swimming Ability forms, and all supporting documents, along with a payment on PowerSchool by March 18th, 2026.
