On Tuesday, June 2, FCS Kindergarten classes have a unique opportunity to visit Granary Road. The AM and PM class will both attend together on June 2nd for the full day.
The visit to Granary Road will provide students with hands-on experiences and an opportunity to learn about animals, bugs and plants. All the activities are connected with the Alberta curriculum.
All students and volunteers should bring:
- sturdy and comfortable walking shoes or running shoes
- water bottle
- appropriate clothing
- garbage-less, nutritious lunch and snacks (AM and PM Snack)
We will depart the school at 9:00a.m. and will return to the school at 2:45p.m.
8:40 - Meet with Parents and introduce them to their group. Provide them with their itinerary, list of group members and discuss the plan for the day. Answer any questions.
9:00 - Board the bus and depart for Granary Road
9:30 - Arrive at Granary Road/Group Photo
9:30-10 - Snack and explain the day to parents
10:00-11:30 - Have students move through 4 stations. Discuss what they learned at each station and draw a picture of it. Please ensure the students are taking time to have a drink.
11:30-12:15 – Meet as a whole group to have lunch in the green space by the zipline and picnic tables, discuss what they saw.
12:30 -1:45 –Travel through the last four stations, stopping to discuss what they learned and also draw a picture after each one. Students will also have a snack sometime during this time period.
1:45-2:00-Meet back at the front and board the bus.
2:30- Arrive back at school.
The cost of this program will be $12 per student, which can be paid through your MyCBE account or in person at the main office during school hours. If this fee creates a financial hardship, please contact Ms. Lusignan, Principal at kalusignan@cbe.ab.ca, to discuss options. We would like to thank the FCS Parent Council who has paid for the bussing.

Volunteers:
We will need 13 volunteers (4-5 volunteers from each class). If you are interested in volunteering and you have your volunteer clearance, please let us know. If you have any questions about volunteering, please see the office. Volunteers are expected to engage in activities with the children and provide guidance in observing, sketching, journal writing and making connections.
