FCS Updates

 

We were happy to have everyone back at FCS!  We had a fantastic, well-attended Open House, which paved the way for a very smooth first day and week.  We would like to thank MRI Autocare for sponsoring the Welcome Back BBQ and to our Parent Council for hosting it.

FCS was fortunate to receive two extra full-time teaching positions due to provincial funding for class size reduction.  This allowed us to have four classes in Kindergarten, Grade 1 and 2.

Each grade has an Education Assistant assigned to it to provide support.  Once our budget comes in, approximately, the third week of October, we will be able to deploy any possible resources, depending on the monies we have received. 

 

A reminder that in alignment with the provincial ministerial order, the CBE has an Away for the Day policy regarding personal mobile devices. This includes cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, laptops & smart watches.  When families text a child and it is received on their smart watch, it becomes a distraction.  Families are encouraged to keep these devices at home. 

 

There was a technical issue with the Family Viewpoint.  Thank you to all who have already completed it.  The deadline has been extended until September 11.  The viewpoint provides teachers with invaluable information to help set your child up for success.  Thank you for taking the time to complete it.

 

Our AMA Patrol Teams will start on September 15.  Please be aware as they will be patrolling crosswalks in front of and near the school.

 

The annual FCS Terry Fox Run will be held on Friday, September 18 at noon.  Please talk to your child about Terry Fox and his legacy to support classroom conversations.

 

Mark your calendar!  Picture Day will be September 22 & 23.  Details to follow.

 

Save the date for parent teacher conferences on September 24 & 25.  A separate email with booking information will come out soon.

 

FCS Parent Council & Association Updates

The Parent Council and Association meet monthly — generally the third Tuesday of every month.  We hope to see many familiar (and new!) faces at our first Parent Council and Association meeting this year, which will be our AGM, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 7:00 pm.

Save the Date! Our Halloween Dance is coming up on Thursday, October 29 from 6:30–8:30 pm! Mark your calendars and get those costumes ready — watch for tickets on sale soon!
