Welcome to 2025! We hope everyone had a restful winter break and a great new year.
FCS students and staff were honoured to present a cheque to the Mustard Seed in the amount of $4798.70 as a result of everyone's collective efforts for the Third Annual Fish Creek Winter Market. The Mustard Seed was grateful for the donation and was a great connection for the students to see the recipient of their collaborative work. Thank you to all of our families who supported their children as well as came out to the market.
This is the time of year when we begin planning next school year’s organization, especially in terms of our enrollment and student population projections. Please fill out the Intent to Return Form whether or not you anticipate that your child/ren will attend Fish Creek School again next year. We realize that plans may change over time and would ask you to kindly let the office know in these cases, so that we may staff with accurate numbers. If you have more than one child at Fish Creek, please fill out one form for each child currently in Kindergarten to Grade 5. A separate form will be sent out for students currently in Grade 6. Please have this form completed by January 24, 2025.
Fish Creek School will be hosting its Kindergarten/Grade 1 Open House on Monday, January 13 from 4pm to 6pm. It is a drop in format and families are welcome to come at any time. The highlight will be a school tour by our Student Ambassadors. Additionally, the office will be open from 4pm to 6pm for any family wanting to either initiate or renew their volunteer clearance, pay a fee or get other questions answered. Please help us get the word out! Students in other grades can be accepted on a year to year basis, based on space and resources. Families can RSVP here. On January 23, 2025 at 6:30pm Chaparral School is hosting a presentation by the Calgary Youth Link Team on Cyber Safety. Fish Creek parents are welcome to attend along with children 12+. More information can be found at this link.
FCS Parent Society & Council Updates
The Fish Creek School Council and Parent Association meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the staffroom. The dates for this year’s meetings are as follows:

Join us as we cheer on Calgary’s Roughnecks Lacrosse team when they face the Toronto Rock. Our Fish Creek Community loved the ELEV8 lacrosse residency and we can now see professional lacrosse players in action! Lacrosse games are high energy and action-packed, so we're in for an exciting evening. The game is on Friday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $32 each. Join us for an enchanting night of skating under the stars! It's a free event and refreshments will be provided. We will be at Lake Sundance in the top rink on Thursday, February 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In case of inclement weather, we will reschedule for Tuesday, February 25. Thursday, January 23 is our next fun lunch. Please remember to get your orders in before the cut off on Saturday, January 18. We kindly ask that if you miss the order deadline, you don’t call the restaurant directly to place an order to be sent with the school order. Additional orders sent to us via this route are very confusing and unfortunately aren't always figured out until the child calls home looking for their lunch.
If your child will be absent on a fun lunch day, you can cancel their lunch on the Healthy Hunger website before the cut off date (the Saturday before the lunch). Refunds are not available through the school at any time or via Healthy Hunger after the cut off date. If your child is unexpectedly absent on the Fun Lunch day, please contact the school office to arrange for pickup in the office from 12:00-1:00 pm or to have it sent home with a sibling.
