Bookfair is Coming!
Our last Book Fair of the year is coming up March 17 -21 and we need many volunteers to make this event a success. If you are available and you are cleared to volunteer at the school, please use sign up genius to sign up. Thank you for your support! The Fish Creek School Spring Book fair is one of our most anticipated fundraisers of the year and helps the library purchase new resources for our library. Last year we were able to purchase new furniture for our older students' reading area, as well as numerous new books for our library. The Spring Book fair will run from March 18 – 20 from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm. Unfortunately due the CUPE 40 strike, the book fair will not be open Thursday evening or Friday morning, however, we welcome parents to come visit the book fair during school hours March 18 – 20.

School Engagement Survey
Each year, schools in the Calgary Board of Education conduct online surveys to engage with their communities and provide and opportunity for families to directly provide feedback. This feedback helps inform decisions related to school planning, which includes the School Development Plan (SDP), budget and fees. Feedback is considered along with fiscal realities, student learning results, and other relevant data. The SDP outlines how student learning will be improved over time. This plan is updated each year based on various data sets. The school budget provides funding to implement our SDP and other supports for learning. School fees are necessary when costs for services and activities exceed available funds. Fees are applied so schools can offer a variety of services and activities such as in-school experiences, field trips, and athletics. Please take the time to complete our survey about the SDP and school fees.

Climbing Wall
At the March 18 School Council and Parent Association meeting, there will be a discussion about the potential installation of a climbing wall in the Fish Creek School gym. The climbing wall would be in alignment with CBE administrative regulations and would be designed to be used horizontally, rather than vertically. Instead of climbing up the wall, students would climb across. The mats would be designed to fold away when not in use. The wall would be completely funded through School Council and Parent Association funds. Two proposals will be discussed. Due to the CUPE local 40 strike, this meeting will be held online. You can join using Microsoft Teams.
