FCS Updates
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held November 28 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm and November 29 from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Bookings can be done through your MyCBE account and will open on November 17 at 12:00pm and close on November 28 at 6:00am. If you would like to book or make a change after that time, please call the office
Calling all Grade 1, 5 and 6 Families! Save the following date for the musical celebration of learning:
Thursday, December 19
- Grade 6 at 1:00pm
- Grade 5 at 1:45pm
- Grade 1 at 2:30pm
Please note that Grades 2, 3, and 4 will have a musical celebration in the Spring. Details will be announced at a later date.
Open House
Fish Creek School will be hosting its Kindergarten/Grade 1 Open House on Monday, January 13 from 4pm to 6pm. It is a drop in format and families are welcome to come at any time. The highlight will be a school tour by our Student Ambassadors. Additionally, the office will be open from 4pm to 6pm for any family wanting to either initiate or renew their volunteer clearance, pay a fee or get other questions answered. Please help us get the word out! Students in other grades can be accepted on a year to year basis, based on space and resources. Families can RSVP here.
Food Bank
The Veterans’ Food Bank drive ends November 27. We set a goal of filling ten boxes and still have a few waiting to be piled high with donations. Please see the wish list for highly needed items.
Fees
Teachers carefully select experiences that will enhance regular programming, for which there is at times, has a cost associated with it. Fish Creek school currently has over $6000 in unpaid programming fees from prior years. This means that our over 10% of our budget for this year has already been spent to cover these costs from previous years. We would appreciate that these fees be taken care of as soon as possible as otherwise the school has to pay for them and it affects the programming we can offer. They can be paid online through your MyCBE account. If you need help with the payment process please contact the office. It you need to make payment arrangements, please contact the school directly as soon as possible. Thank you to everyone who has already paid their fees.
Lost & Found
Thank you to everyone who has been checking our lost & found! There are four racks remaining. There is also a much greater chance of items being reunited if a child's name is in them. Please label your child's item with their name. Our lost & found will be on display during conferences. For the next two weeks, items will be on racks by main doors at drop off and pick up. Please take the time to see if there is anything that belongs to your child.
Phys. Ed
We are happy to announce that Mrs. Laanstra will be our new Phys. Ed. teacher as a result of FCS having received some additional funds for student support. Mrs. Laanstra will be teaching Phys. Ed., during which time the classroom teacher will be providing further supports to students as they need it.
Lacrosse
On November 27 and 28, a professional coach from ELEV8 Lacrosse will be visiting Fish Creek School to use the sport of lacrosse to help students develop their movement, throwing, and catching skills. This short-term residency is at no cost to the school and is being donated by Calgary Field Lacrosse.
Swimming
Swimming lessons begin at the end of December, with Grades 2, 3 and 4. With the exception of Kindergarten, all other Grades will be swimming in the new year. Costs will be finalized once expression of interest surveys have been tabulated.
Fish Creek Winter Market
On December 13, students and families will be participating in our second annual Fish Creek Winter Market. Students will be selling their handmade wares to raise money for the Mustard Seed. Families are welcome to join us for the final hour of the market. Please see the information sent home separately.
FCS Parent Council Updates
The Fish Creek School Council and Parent Association meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the staffroom. The dates for this year’s meetings are as follows:

Hockey
Hitmen Hockey Night is tonight! If you had trouble buying tickets last week, it's because tickets sold out. We were able to add more seats and tickets are now available. Get them fast before they run out again! Our annual Hockey Night presented by the Fish Creek Parent Association will be on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Saddledome where the Calgary Hitmen take on the Victoria Royals. Tickets are $23.90 for adults and $17.60 for children, with $5 from every ticket donated back to the Parent Association. We will all be seated in the same sections (104 or 105). Tickets are on sale now at: www.hitmengroups.com/FishCreek.
