Welcome Back! Everyone at FCS was happy to see students come back to school! Staff worked hard to get everything ready to welcome students, despite last minute work still taking place. Despite the smoke, we had a great first week with many more to come.
Photo day will take place on September 15 and 16. Further information as to which grades will go on which day will be coming out shortly.
We looking forward to welcoming families to our Open House on Thursday, September 25 from 4:00pm to 6:30pm. It is a drop in format to allow families to spend as much time as needed. This is a general meet and greet. If you have specific questions about your child, please contact the teacher directly.
Fish Creek students and staff will participate in the annual Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 26. More information will be set separately.
A reminder that on September 29 & 30 there is no school due to a non-instruction day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation respectively.
Schools are funded based on enrollment as of September 30. Adjustments to the school organization and staffing assignments may have to be at that time to align resources with students’ needs.
Our school has a video surveillance system to help maintain a safe and secure environment at the school for students, staff and the public, and to help address vandalism and criminal activity on school property. The video surveillance system is installed and reviewed in accordance with Administrative Regulation 1066. Personal information is collected under the authority of the School Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) section 33. This technology can be placed in areas such as the school parking lot, building entrances and exits, stairwells and hallways. This information is recorded and collected to help maintain a safe and secure environment in the school and on school property. The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information. Inquiries concerning the video surveillance system, or the collection and use of recorded information may be made by contacting the school office.
Fish Creek School Council & Parent Association News
Fish Creek School Council and Parent Association welcome you back for another wonderful year. We hope you had a safe, happy and restful summer vacation! Our first meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00 pm at the school. Our meetings are generally held on the third Tuesday of the month, so mark your calendar! Please consider joining us. Our council is very active and there are many ways you can volunteer to help enrich our school and improve the experience of our children. We plan events, teacher appreciation, fundraising, advocacy, fun lunch, yearbook, residencies, classroom volunteering, etc. Hope to see you there!
Calling all volunteers! We are fortunate to have our next Casino dates coming up Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11, 2025. This casino will bring in somewhere between $65,000 and $85,000 to the school to help pay for things like playground upkeep and replacement, books, gym equipment, student online resources, laptops and technology, and so much more. Without parent volunteers we will have to forfeit the casino and miss out on this huge contribution to the school, so if you can volunteer please do! You do NOT need school clearance and a police report to participate. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbours and anyone over 18 is welcome to volunteer. You can volunteer for multiple shifts but they have to be the same role each time over the 2 days (ie if you are cashier one day, you need to be cashier the next). A meal and snacks are provided.
Summer takes away our opportunity to source volunteers within the school so we really appreciate all of those that have already put their name in for a shift! Without all of the support this wouldn’t be possible! Thank you!
