MidSun News
Through collaboration with our MidSun and Chaparral School Councils, and support from ABE grant funding, we are pleased to offer a free parent/guardian workshop with Canadian author and educator Angela Murphy on April 16 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. This engaging 90-minute session will focus on supporting children’s well-being, emotional regulation, and connection, drawing on Angela’s work and resources through her Wonder Pups series. Please RSVP by April 13.
MidSun Band is excited to launch our annual Spring Plant Fundraiser, just in time for Mother’s Day. Choose from a beautiful selection of plants to brighten your home or gift to someone special. Orders can be placed through the Growing Smiles website by April 23. Pickup is May 7 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm at MidSun School. All proceeds from this fundraiser directly support the Grade 7–9 Band Camp programs, helping provide meaningful learning experiences for our students.
Fish Creek Parent Council/Association Update
Next year, FCS parent council is considering hosting a variety of enrichment activities outside of school hours (such as writing, book clubs, robotics, Lego, chess, APEGA Olympics, art, sports, dance, choir, drama, etc.). We created this Parent survey regarding after school programs to gauge the interest and support that families may have for these types of programs. This survey will take less than 3 minutes. Please help us by completing it! Click here for the survey or visit: https://forms.gle/hEEkANQpUdFEa7q36
Our annual FCS Read-a-Thon is already underway and runs through April 24! There will be prizes for the top readers and fundraisers, as well as a random draw in which all participants will be entered. Last year students read a total of 193,356 minutes and raised $10,537.79! We are looking forward to seeing if those totals can be beat!
Our next fun lunch is Saucy Bread on Thursday, April 16. Don’t forget to place your order before the cut off on Saturday, April 11. To place your child's order please visit the Healthy Hunger website at https://healthyhunger.ca If you miss the deadline, please do not call the restaurant and ask to add an order. It is very confusing when we end up with extra lunches. If your child will be absent on a fun lunch day, you can cancel their lunch on the Healthy Hunger website before the cut off date (the Saturday before the lunch.) Refunds are not available through the school at any time or via Healthy Hunger after the cut off date. If your child is unexpectedly absent on the Fun Lunch day, please contact the office to arrange for pickup in the office from 12:00 - 1:00 pm or to have it sent home with a sibling. Any lunches left at the school after 1:00 pm will be forfeited. Please contact fishcreekschoolcouncil@gmail.com with any fun lunch questions. Thank you!
The next School Council and Parent Association meeting takes place on Tuesday, April 21 at 7:00 pm.
Join us on Thursday, April 23 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. for an ocean-themed evening of music, dancing, and family fun! The Under the Sea Dance Party tickets are $3 per person and must be pre-purchased online through healthyhunger.ca. Everyone attending requires a ticket, and students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tickets are limited and expected to sell out, so we encourage families to purchase early. When buying tickets, please select the oldest child’s name attending and purchase all family tickets under that one name. Kindergarten families will need to create a new Healthy Hunger account in order to purchase tickets. Our Snack Shop will be open with water, treats, and other fun items available for cash only. As always, our school is a nut-free zone, and we appreciate your help in keeping all students safe. If you have any questions, please contact Stephanie-smcallen14@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing everyone for a fintastic night!
