Fish Creek School Updates

A reminder that there is no school tomorrow, Friday, April 24 as it is a non-instruction day.

We will be having spring performances on April 30, 2026.  Times are as follow:

As there are 3 separate performances, please note the timelines we are trying to adhere to:

  • 1:00 pm - Grade 4 Performance begins. Parents/families should arrive around 12:45 pm and enter the gym by the stairs
  • 1:45 pm - Grade 3 Performance begins. Parents/families should arrive around 1:30 pm  and enter the gym by the stairs – once we invite you in after the previous performance has cleared
  • 2:30 pm - Grade 2 Performance begins. Parents/families should arrive around 2:15 pm and enter the gym by the stairs – once we invite you in after the previous performance has cleared

A few requests for the performance:

  • If you arrive after your child’s performance has started, please use the ramp to enter the gym
  •  At the end of each performance, please follow your child to their classroom to congratulate them. Please note, there will be no reception/snacks after the performance. Class will resume as usual.   In order to eliminate disruptions to the classrooms, and as all FCS students will have seen the performances through rehearsals, siblings should not be signed out of class to watch on the afternoon of April 30

A reminder that all swimming forms and fees for Grade 1- 6 students are due by April 30, 2026. The cost of this program will be $52.00 per student.  Payment can be made through your MyCBE account or in person at the office.     The City of Calgary is no longer offering waivers.  If the fee creates a financial hardship, please contact Ms. Lusignan, Principal by April 30.  We are also looking for volunteers.  If you can volunteer and are cleared, we would appreciate your help.  Both men and women are needed, and we ask that you stay during the whole time for different classes.  Volunteers are not in the pool with the students.

Please sign up through the links below:

If you have any questions about your volunteer clearance, please contact the school office.  If you have any questions specific to swimming volunteering, please contact Mr. Birchfield at tdbirchfield@cbe.ab.ca.

We would like to celebrate all volunteers at our Volunteer Appreciation on Friday, May 1 from 11:30 am -12:40 pm. If you have volunteered at all this year please come and join us for some music, snacks, and good company.  All the things you do make everything so much better at Fish Creek School.  We do not want to miss anyone so please consider this your personal invitation to join us. Please RSVP here by April 20 to be included.   We hope to see you there!

Fish Creek Parent Council/Association Update

Next year, FCS parent council is considering hosting a variety of enrichment activities outside of school hours (such as writing, book clubs, robotics, Lego, chess, APEGA Olympics, art, sports, dance, choir, drama, etc.). We created this Parent survey regarding after school programs to gauge the interest and support that families may have for these types of programs. This survey will take less than 3 minutes.  Please help us by completing it! Click here for the survey or visit: https://forms.gle/hEEkANQpUdFEa7q36

Our annual FCS Read-a-Thon is already underway and runs through April 24! There will be prizes for the top readers and fundraisers, as well as a random draw in which all participants will be entered. Last year students read a total of 193,356 minutes and raised $10,537.79! We are looking forward to seeing if those totals can be beat!

It's that time of year again where we are getting ready to fill the pages of the 2025-2026 Fish Creek School Yearbook Contest. We are in need of a creative front and back cover from our little artists! Students are welcome to submit a piece of artwork they have made or a creative photo they have taken for consideration by May 1. Artwork can be submitted to the school office and photos can be emailed to school council at fishcreekschoolcouncil@gmail.com. Please be sure to include the child's name and teacher on anything submitted. The winners will receive a free copy of the yearbook!  Yearbooks will be available to purchase during the month of May on Healthy Hunger, with an expected delivery the week of June 15. More details to come soon!
