Fish Creek School Updates
Kindergarten registration for the 2026/27 school year starts on January 12, 2026. Please check with the office if you need support. Registration is ongoing as we do not have a lottery. We will also have an Open House on February 5 from 4:00pm-6:00pm (changed from the previously announced date of January 29).
A reminder that dogs are not permitted on school grounds except where expressly approved under AR6004 (e.g., service animals or authorized educational purposes). Additionally, the City of Calgary Responsible Pet Ownership Bylaw prohibits dogs on school property, including playgrounds and fields. We ask that dogs are not brought anywhere onto school property.
We have had several reported near misses and incidents of unsafe driving in front of the school, especially during pickup and drop off. We always ask that, you choose safety over convenience for the sake of all students, families and staff. We are currently investigating traffic calming measures, to keep everyone safe. Additionally, there may be education and enforcement from the Calgary Police Service and the Calgary Parking Authority. Should they choose enforcement, the school has no ability to have tickets cancelled.
Please remember that all digital devices, including cell phones and smart watches, should be away for the day. These devices should not be used for texting or communicating during school hours, including at lunch and recess. Please read the CBE Away for the Day FAQ, which was created at the direction of a Ministerial Order.
We would appreciate if your child were sent with the necessary cutlery for their lunch. The school has been providing plastic cutlery, which was purchased for emergency situations and not on an ongoing basis
For this school year, FCS used Edge Imaging for school photos. We would like to gather feedback on Edge Imaging as our school photo provider. We welcome both positive and constructive feedback. This can be related to quality of photos, pricing, delivery time etc. We ask for your name in case we need to follow up. Please provide feedback through this link by January 23, 2026.
This is the time of year when we begin planning next school year’s organization, especially in terms of our enrollment and student population projections. Please indicate below whether or not you anticipate that your child/ren will attend Fish Creek School again next year. We realize that plans may change over time and would ask you to kindly let the office know in these cases, so that we may staff with accurate numbers. If you have more than one child at Fish Creek School, please fill out one form for each child currently in Kindergarten to Grade 5. Please note that once your child is registered at Fish Creek, the registration continues to roll over for the next year unless we hear otherwise from the family. This applies to all families who are deemed residents of the CBE and are in our catchment area. If you have any questions about this, please contact the office. A separate form will be sent out for students currently in Grade 6. Please have this form completed by January 30, 2026.
For current Grade 6 students, please indicate through this form to which school your child will transition for Grade 7, also by January 30, 2026
A reminder that there is no school on Friday, January 30 as it is a non-instruction day.
Fish Creek School Council Updates
Thank you to everyone who attended our special School Council meeting earlier this week. We appreciate the time, questions, and respectful dialogue from families and community members. We’re also grateful to MLA Myles McDougall and Board Trustee Charlene May for joining us and to all who participated in the discussion. The next School Council meeting is on February 17 at 7:00 pm.
Join us for an enchanting night of skating under the stars! It's a free event and refreshments will be provided. Our annual Hitmen Hockey game presented by the Fish Creek Parent Association will be on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 2:00 pm. at the Saddledome where the Calgary Hitmen take on the Regina Pats. Tickets are $26.00 for adults and $18.65 for children, with $5 from every ticket donated back to the Parent Association. We will all be seated in the same section (107).
