Fish Creek School Updates
There are currently over $2 500 in unpaid fees, of which $1200 is still due for swimming. Unpaid, this money comes directly from the school budget and will impact next year’s budget. Fees are expected to be paid by the due date given as FCS has to pay vendors, in many cases ahead of time. Please check your MyCBE account for unpaid fees and pay them immediately. Payments can be made online at any time in person at the office during school business hours. If any fee creates a financial hardship, please contact Ms. Lusignan, Principal immediately to discuss options. Unpaid fees have a direct impact on the programming that can be offered.
We would like to thank everyone who has been making the extra effort to get their child to school on time. A reminder that outside supervision starts at 8:26 am, so your child can be dropped off at any time after that. Each class has a designated door through which students enter. Students should be at that door by 8:39 am when the first bell rings, with instruction starting at 8:41am. Teachers will be at their respective doors at 8:39 am. Additionally, there is always a teacher who visually sweeps their door area for any remaining students. Students should not be waiting until 8:41am to enter through the front doors, as this creates more work for the front office. We are aiming to have no late students. This will have a direct positive impact on student learning and reduce the administrative workload.
We continue to get phone calls from frustrated neighbours of Fish Creek School, about people parking in front of their driveways. The pull through is not a parking zone unless you are in a parking spot. Vehicles should not be left there to drop off children as it creates a backup out onto the street. The Hug and Go zone is designed for students to be able to get on their own in under 30 seconds and for the vehicle to go immediately. Please be considerate of our neighbours.
Report cards will be available for viewing on PowerSchool on June 25. Teachers spend an inordinate amount of time writing comments. Please take the time to read them. If you have any questions regarding your child’s report card, please contact your child’s teacher. Appeals can be made on June 29 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Please check out the Lost & Found. All remaining items as of June 29, 2026 at noon will be donated.
Save the date! Fish Creek School will be hosting an Open House for the 2026-27 school year on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to visit the school, meet your child’s teacher, see the classroom and ask any questions you may have. It is drop-in, so no registration required and open to all families. The first day of the school is Monday, August 31, 2026.
Fish Creek Parent Council/Association Update
Next year, FCS parent council is considering hosting a variety of enrichment activities outside of school hours (such as writing, book clubs, robotics, Lego, chess, APEGA Olympics, art, sports, dance, choir, drama, etc.). We created this Parent survey regarding after school programs to gauge the interest and support that families may have for these types of programs. This survey will take less than 3 minutes. Please help us by completing it! Click here for the survey or visit: https://forms.gle/hEEkANQpUdFEa7q36
News from MidSun Junior High School
Our online MidSun apparel store is now open and will remain available until June 30. Whether your child is currently attending MidSun or will be joining us from one of our feeder schools this fall, now is the perfect time to order school apparel and be ready for September! A sizing tip from experience: Students often grow significantly over the summer, so we strongly recommend ordering larger sizes. In most cases, adult sizes are the best choice, and youth sizes should only be selected if your child is smaller for their age. Please note that all items are custom-made and cannot be exchanged or refunded. In previous years, some students were disappointed when their apparel no longer fit by the time school started. The online store will close on June 30, and once it closes, orders cannot be added or the store reopened. We encourage families to place their orders early so your student can start the school year showing their MidSun pride! If you have any questions, please contact Jen Purslow at jmpurslow@cbe.ab.ca. We look forward to welcoming our new Grade 7 students and seeing everyone sporting their MidSun gear in September!
