Everyday Math Ideas
Once we finished crunching the Read-A-Thon numbers, we found that the average time spent reading each day was about 28 minutes. Is it possible to use this number as a starting point for setting ongoing reading goals?
- For younger children, this could look like asking children around the dinner table if they got their reading done that day, or maybe putting a checkmark on a calendar every time they reach a daily goal.
 - For older children, this might look like asking your children to write down an estimate of how many minutes they read each day. Perhaps there could be monthly reviews of progress, call it off-season training for the next Read-A-Thon.

One World Drum Residency
From May 6 to 10, One World Drum will take up residency at Fish Creek School, bringing West African drumming to our students. They have been bringing their knowledge of the djembe to schools for over 30 years, and we are looking forward to hearing the rhythmic sounds of drumming echoing through our halls.
Volunteer Tea
This morning, staff and students came together to welcome our numerous volunteers for an Easy-Peasy-Lemon-Squeezy event. Attendees enjoyed lemonade and sweet lemony treats. Attendees enjoyed vocal and handbell performances by our students. We would like to once again extend our thanks for the countless hours that our volunteers put into making this school the special place that it is. Our students’ experience at Fish Creek School would not be the same without you.
FCS Celebration of Musical Learning
On May 30, we will be hosting a celebration of musical learning. Please the flyer below for more information.
