Weekly Update - September 11, 2026
A reminder that in alignment with the provincial ministerial order, the CBE has an Away for the Day policy regarding personal mobile devices. This includes cell phones, tablets, gaming devices, laptops & smart watches. When families text a child and it is received on their smart watch, it becomes a distraction. Families are encouraged to keep these devices at home.
Our annual Terry Fox Run will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 12:00 pm –12:30 pm. The run will take place on the FCS field, with the route looping around the soccer posts on the main field. Each grade will exit through the front doors and proceed along the Road of Hope, which will be lined by our Grade 6 student cheer squad. Families are welcome to lace up and join the students! For safety and supervision purposes, students must return to their classroom after the run and be dismissed from there. Please do not take your child directly from the run, as students remain the responsibility of the school until they have returned to class and been properly dismissed. Thank you for helping us ensure all students are safely accounted for. FCS students are encouraged to bring a “Toonie for Terry” to school or donate through the Terry Fox Foundation through this link.
Mark your calendar! Picture Day will be September 22 & 23. Details to follow.
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held September 24 & 25. Watch for an email next week with instructions on how to book.
The Fish Creek School Fall Book Fair is coming! The book fair is one of our most anticipated fundraisers of the year and helps the library purchase new resources for our library. Last year we were able to purchase new furniture for our older students' reading area, as well as numerous new books for our library. The Fall Book fair will run from September 22 – 24 from 9:00 am -12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. The book fair will also be open during conferences, on the evening of September 24 (4:00 pm – 7:30 pm) and the morning of September 25 (8:30 am – 12:30 pm). Students can come to the book fair during their regular library time or with their family during conferences. We are also looking for volunteers to help run the book fair. Please sign up here if you can help out.
