A Warm Farewell from Fish Creek Parent Council and Association

As the school year draws to a close, we want to take a moment to wish each and every one of you a summer filled with sunshine, laughter, and wonderful memories.

What a remarkable year it has been! Thanks to the extraordinary generosity, dedication, and hard work of our parents and teachers, we have accomplished so much together. This year, we were thrilled to install the new Climbing/Traverse Wall in the gym and to fund two unforgettable residencies for the entire student body - Alien Inline and Havana Dance.  We also provided additional school supplies to support learning in the classroom.

Our community spirit makes Fish Creek such a special place and we were delighted to host events that brought families together, including the Welcome Back BBQ, Ice Skating Night, Hockey Night, the Spring Dance, and teacher appreciation events. We engaged in important advocacy on behalf of our school with MLA Myles McDougall and Trustee Charlene May, and advanced resolutions through the Alberta School Council’s Association. We hosted an educational evening on building resiliency with Dr. Caroline Buzanko, facilitated a lunchtime STEM club, and coordinated beloved annual programs including the Read-a-thon, yearbook, fun lunches, Casino Night, and Book Fair. These collective efforts have strengthened our school community and created lasting memories for our students and families.

We also want to specially thank our teachers and administration for their personal sacrifices during this past year.  Your unwavering dedication to improving our school and public education in Alberta was deeply appreciated.

Looking ahead, we have ambitious and exciting plans. We are exploring new after-school clubs for students (take the survey) and beginning the long-term planning process for playground replacement. There truly is something for everyone to lend a hand to, and we would love to have you join us.

Finally, we send our warmest congratulations to our amazing Grade 6 graduates—you have grown into remarkable young people, and we are so proud of you. And to our new Kindergarten families joining us in the fall: Welcome! We cannot wait to meet you and share in your child’s journey.

Enjoy every moment of this well-earned summer break. We hope to see many familiar (and new!) faces at our first Parent Council and Association meeting — our Annual General Meeting (AGM) — on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 7:00 pm.

With gratitude and warm wishes,

Susanne Calabrese McGuinness (Chair)
